Management

Organising chaos.

Your organisation needs structure and order.

But the external world is chaotic. Supporters don’t see themselves as fitting into neat ‘boxes’. Individual giver – major donor – corporate partner – community donor – local committee member – event participant – and many more. These are our constructs; not a reflection of the real world. Supporters see themselves as ‘people’, wanting to make a difference.

So, despite your need for order, you must dismantle silos and siloed thinking. People must work together, towards a common goal.

From my experience, this requires huge culture change amongst fundraising staff. Don’t underestimate it. (And, yes, it does mean re-thinking how ‘targets’ work.)
